The PTA conditions that protect you, in force from today
PTA approved the merger only with consumer-protection conditions attached. The ones worth knowing: existing packages stay usable for at least three months; subscription bundles cannot auto-renew without your explicit consent; value-added services cannot be switched on without verified approval and must be easy to cancel; and a free balance-save service was required within 60 days.
Coverage and capacity are also barred from falling below pre-merger levels, with median download-speed targets of 20 Mbps within two years, 35 Mbps within four and 50 Mbps within nine.
On-net minutes now cover Telenor, Ufone and PTCL
With the networks combined, on-net minutes in Telenor bundles now include calls to Ufone and PTCL numbers. Calls that previously came out of the small off-net allowance now draw on the much larger on-net pool.
Worth re-checking the bundle you are on: a package you passed over because its off-net minutes were too thin may now be the better deal.
Merger complete: Telenor Pakistan is now part of PTML
Telenor Pakistan has been amalgamated into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), the licensee behind Ufone, and no longer exists as a separate company. The combined operator serves roughly 72 million subscribers — about 35.7% of the market, second only to Jazz.
Your SIM, number, balance and active bundles all continue. There is no SIM swap, no re-verification and no franchise visit required.
Islamabad High Court clears the Telenor–Ufone amalgamation
The Islamabad High Court sanctioned the scheme of amalgamation, the last approval the transaction needed after clearance from the Competition Commission of Pakistan and the PTA. Nothing changes for subscribers on this date — it is the legal step that lets the merger complete.
In July 2026, after approvals from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Islamabad High Court, Telenor Pakistan formally merged into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) — the company behind Ufone. The combined network serves around 72 million subscribers, making it Pakistan's second-largest operator after Jazz.
If you use a Telenor SIM, the short version is: nothing breaks. Your number, balance, packages and the My Telenor app all keep working. What changes is mostly good news — a bigger network behind your SIM, a larger on-net calling pool, and a set of PTA-enforced protections written specifically to stop customers being disadvantaged by the merger.

What changes (mostly in your favour)
The biggest practical change is the on-net pool: minutes that used to cover only Telenor-to-Telenor calls now include Ufone and PTCL numbers too, which makes on-net-heavy bundles like the EasyCards considerably more useful. Over time the two networks' towers and spectrum will be combined, and PTA has ordered that coverage and capacity must not fall below pre-merger levels — with mobile internet speed targets that rise over the coming years. Further ahead, reports say both the Telenor and Ufone brands will gradually give way to the parent company's "e&" brand, but until that is officially announced in the My Telenor app, everything continues under the Telenor name.

PTA approved the merger only with strict consumer-protection conditions: no package can auto-renew without your explicit consent, no value-added service can be activated without verified approval (and every VAS must be easy to see and deactivate), and a free balance save service is mandated — dial *342# to protect your remaining balance. Watch out for merger scams
Big telecom news always brings scammers. Telenor will never call or SMS you asking for CNIC details, PINs or codes to "keep your SIM active during the merger". There is no fee, no verification call and no action required from you. Treat any such message as fraud — official announcements appear in the My Telenor app and on Telenor's official channels only.
